The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam welcomes the conviction of DMK executive Gnanasekaran in the Anna University student rape case.
The DMK made various efforts to cover up the administrative failure of the Tamil Nadu government in this case. In this regard, I met the Governor of Tamil Nadu and submitted a petition demanding that the victim student get due justice and the culprit be given due punishment.
Following the protests of various political parties, the Madras High Court took the initiative to investigate this case. At that time, the people did not forget that the First Information Report was issued due to the mistake of the police department operating under the direct control of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, and the Madras High Court ordered the Tamil Nadu government to pay Rs. 25 lakh as interim compensation to the victim student and her family for causing mental distress and that this amount could be recovered from the negligent police officers.
The Madras High Court ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team on December 28 to investigate the case expeditiously. Only after that, Gnanasekaran was arrested under the Goondas Act on January 5. Then on February 24, a charge sheet was filed against Gnanasekaran, the case was transferred to the Women’s Court, and the witnesses were examined.
This case was conducted expeditiously only because the investigation was conducted under the direct supervision of the Madras High Court, and the verdict has now been delivered. For this, I express my gratitude to the Madras High Court on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Victory Party.
I request that Gnanasekaran, who has been declared guilty by the Women’s Court in this case, be given the maximum punishment and that appropriate legal action be taken against all those involved in this case.
The Madras High Court has taken the initiative to expedite this case due to the administrative failure of Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin, and the verdict has been delivered in 5 months.
But everyone knows that the DMK leader is bragging about all this and is hiding a white lie that the Tamil Nadu Police Department is responsible for the current verdict.
This is a miserable, incompetent government that has failed to maintain law and order and provide proper protection to women. For these atrocities, the people of Tamil Nadu are certain to send the DMK government home in 10 months, standing on the side of justice and standing on the side of courageous women.
